Equipment

  • 1 steamer basket
  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 measuring cup
  • 1 tablespoon

Ingredients

  • 250 grams ground chicken
  • 100 grams shrimp peeled and deveined
  • 100 grams tapioca flour
  • 50 grams carrots finely grated
  • 1 egg
  • 3 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper ground
  • 20 pieces wonton wrappers

Instructions

  • In a mixing bowl, combine ground chicken, shrimp, tapioca flour, grated carrots, and egg.
  • Add soy sauce, sesame oil, sugar, salt, and white pepper to the mixture and mix well.
  • Place a wonton wrapper on a flat surface and add a tablespoon of the filling in the center.
  • Gather the edges of the wrapper and shape it around the filling, leaving the top exposed.
  • Repeat the process with the remaining wrappers and filling.
  • Prepare the steamer basket by lining it with parchment paper.
  • Arrange the siomay dimsum in the steamer basket, leaving space between each piece.
  • Steam the siomay dimsum over boiling water for 15-20 minutes, or until cooked through.
  • Remove the siomay dimsum from the steamer and let them rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For added flavor, you can add a dash of chili oil to the filling or serve the siomay dimsum with a spicy dipping sauce. Make sure to keep the steamer lid closed during steaming to ensure even cooking. If you prefer a vegetarian version, you can substitute the chicken and shrimp with tofu and mushrooms.
