Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornmeal
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 3/4 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • Grease the 9-inch cake pan and set aside.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together flour, cornmeal, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  • In a separate bowl, mix melted butter, buttermilk, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  • Fold in the chocolate chips gently.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  • Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack.
  • Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

For best results, make sure all ingredients are at room temperature before starting the recipe. This helps in achieving a smoother batter and even baking. Additionally, ensure not to overmix the batter to keep the cake tender.
