Ingredients
  

  • 2 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion chopped
  • 2 clove garlic minced
  • 500 gram beef stew meat cubed
  • 3 large carrots sliced
  • 2 potatoes diced
  • 1 liter beef stock
  • 2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 200 gram self-raising flour
  • 100 gram suet
  • 4 tablespoon cold water

Instructions
 

  • Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add and sauté the onion and garlic until softened.
  • Add beef stew meat and cook until browned on all sides.
  • Stir in carrots and potatoes.
  • Pour in beef stock and add salt, pepper, and Worcestershire sauce.
  • Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cover for 45 minutes.
  • In a mixing bowl, combine self-raising flour and suet.
  • Add cold water to the flour mixture and mix to form a dough.
  • Divide dough into small balls to form dumplings.
  • Drop dumplings into the simmering stew.
  • Cover the pot and cook for an additional 15 minutes.
  • Remove from heat and let rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, make sure the stew is simmering gently when you add the dumplings to ensure they cook evenly. Adjust the seasoning to your taste, and feel free to add other vegetables like peas or parsnips to enhance the flavor.
