Ingredients
  

  • 4 large apples peeled, cored, and sliced
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Instructions
 

  • Peel, core, and slice the apples on a cutting board.
  • Place the sliced apples in a large saucepan.
  • Add sugar, cinnamon, water, and lemon juice to the saucepan.
  • Stir the ingredients with a wooden spoon until well combined.
  • Place the saucepan over medium heat and bring the mixture to a simmer.
  • Reduce the heat to low and cover the saucepan.
  • Cook for 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and let the stewed apples rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, choose apples that are firm and slightly tart, such as Granny Smith or Honeycrisp, for a balanced flavor and texture. Adjust the amount of sugar to taste depending on the sweetness of your apples. Consider adding a pinch of nutmeg or cloves for additional warmth and depth of flavor.
