Equipment

  • 1 Medium saucepan
  • 1 measuring cup
  • 1 Measuring spoon
  • 1 Baking sheet
  • 1 Wire rack
  • 1 slotted spoon

Ingredients

  • 2 cups Fresh cranberries
  • 1 cup Granulated sugar
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/2 cup Superfine sugar

Instructions

  • Combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar in a medium saucepan over medium heat and stir until the sugar dissolves.
  • Add 2 cups of fresh cranberries to the syrup and stir to coat evenly.
  • Remove the saucepan from heat and let the cranberries sit in the syrup for about 1 hour.
  • Using a slotted spoon, transfer the cranberries to a wire rack set over a baking sheet to drain.
  • Let the cranberries dry for about an hour until they are tacky but not wet.
  • Roll the cranberries in 1/2 cup of superfine sugar to coat them.
  • Allow the sugared cranberries to dry completely on the wire rack before serving.

Notes

For best results, ensure the cranberries are fully coated in syrup and have enough time to dry before rolling them in the superfine sugar. This will help the sugar adhere properly and create a delightful, frosted appearance. If you don't have superfine sugar, you can make your own by processing granulated sugar in a blender or food processor until fine. Sugared cranberries are perfect for snacking or as a garnish for desserts and cocktails.
