Equipment

  • 1 Large pot
  • 1 Wooden spoon
  • 1 Knife
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 measuring cup set

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1 onion chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 bell pepper chopped
  • 28 ounces crushed tomatoes 1 can
  • 2 tablespoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 15 ounces kidney beans drained and rinsed, 1 can
  • 15 ounces black beans drained and rinsed, 1 can
  • salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Heat the olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  • Add the ground turkey and cook until browned, breaking it up with a wooden spoon.
  • Stir in the chopped onion, minced garlic, and chopped bell pepper; cook until softened.
  • Add the crushed tomatoes, chili powder, cumin, paprika, and cayenne pepper to the pot.
  • Stir in the kidney beans and black beans until well combined.
  • Season with salt and pepper to taste.
  • Bring the mixture to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low.
  • Cover the pot and let the chili simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  • Remove the pot from heat and let it rest for 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

For a richer flavor, consider letting the chili simmer longer on low heat, allowing the spices to meld together. Feel free to adjust the spice level to your preference by adding more or less cayenne pepper. Serve with toppings like shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped cilantro for added taste and texture. If you prefer a thicker chili, you can mash some of the beans before adding them to the pot.
