Equipment

  • 1 Frying pan
  • 1 sharp knife
  • 1 Cutting board
  • 1 Mixing bowl
  • 1 Tongs
  • 1 Spatula
  • 1 Whisk
  • 1 Medium-sized bowl

Ingredients

  • 4 slices whole wheat bread
  • 2 tablespoons butter softened
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 cup cabbage shredded
  • 1 carrot julienned
  • 1 cucumber thinly sliced
  • 4 slices ham
  • 2 slices cheese
  • 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons ketchup
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  • Preheat the frying pan over medium heat.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, soy sauce, and sesame oil.
  • Pour the egg mixture into the frying pan and cook until set, then remove and set aside.
  • Spread butter on one side of each bread slice.
  • In a medium-sized bowl, mix mayonnaise and ketchup to make a sauce.
  • Layer one slice of bread, buttered side down, with half of the cabbage, carrot, cucumber, ham, and cheese.
  • Add the cooked egg, then top with some sauce, and season with salt and pepper.
  • Place another slice of bread on top, buttered side up, and press down gently.
  • Repeat steps 6 to 8 for the second sandwich.
  • Place the sandwiches in the frying pan and cook on both sides until golden brown.
  • Remove from pan and let the sandwiches rest for 5 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For a more flavorful sandwich, consider adding a sprinkle of your favorite spices or herbs into the egg mixture. Ensure all vegetables are sliced thinly to achieve the best texture and balance in every bite. Wrapping the sandwich in plastic wrap and letting it rest for a few minutes can help it hold its shape better when slicing.
